Abstract
Studytype:thisisadescriptiveandretrospectivestudy.Problem:antibiotic
resistanceisagrowingpublichealththreatofamajorconcerntocountriesand
multiplesectors.Thisthreatensone-healththatisbothpublichealthandveterinary.
Dataisavailableonantibioticresistanceinhumans.However,dataonthetrendof
thisantibioticresistanceinbothhumanandveterinarymedicineisscantyhencethis
study.Objectives:toassessantibioticresistanceinhumansandinfoodanimals
(cattle,goats,pigs,chickens)inBlantyre,Malawi.Methodology:qualitativedata
collectionmethodwillbeemployed.Datawillbecollectedfromtherecordson
antibioticresistanceforthepast6yearsthatisfrom2021downto2015fromQECH
andBlantyreveterinaryandthisdatawillbeanalyzed.Expectedresults:itis
expectedthattherewillbeanincreasingtrendofantibioticresistanceinbothhuman
medicineandfoodanimals.Disseminationofresults:theresultswillbe
disseminatedthroughconductionofpresentationsandthroughattendanceoflocal
conferences.AcopyofthefinalreportwillbesenttoQECH,Blantyreveterinary,
CollegeofMedicineResearchEthicsCommitteeandothers.
